These gingerbread cookies are so soft and cozy you’ll want to hide them from your family and pretend the batch mysteriously vanished.
What Are Gingerbread Cookies with Maple Glaze?
These are soft, warmly spiced gingerbread cookies made with molasses and ginger for that classic holiday flavor. They bake up tender with a slight crackle on top and get dipped into a thick maple glaze that sets beautifully without turning brittle. The result is a cookie that feels nostalgic but still a little extra thanks to that maple finish. They are perfect for cookie boxes, holiday parties, or late night snacking with tea.
Our Tips for Gingerbread Cookies with Maple Glaze
Use room temperature butter so it creams smoothly and gives the cookies a soft texture.
Chill the dough for ten minutes if your kitchen is warm to help the cookies hold their shape.
Dip only the top of each cookie into the glaze and let excess drip off for the cleanest finish.
How to Store Gingerbread Cookies with Maple Glaze
For the fridge: store cookies in a single layer in an airtight container or separate layers with parchment so the glaze stays smooth. They keep well for up to five days.
For the freezer: freeze the cookies on a tray first then place them in a sealed freezer bag or container. They last up to two months. Thaw at room temperature so the glaze softens gently.

Gingerbread Cookies with Maple Glaze
Soft, spiced gingerbread cookies get a festive upgrade with a sweet and thick maple glaze. Perfect for holiday gatherings or as a cozy treat with your favorite cup of tea, these cookies are easy to make and packed with flavor.
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1/3 cup molasses
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1–2 teaspoons ground ginger
- Granulated sugar for rolling
- Christmas Sprinkles of Choice (optional)
- 1 tablespoon melted butter
- 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk of choice (add a tiny bit more if needed)
- Pinch of salt, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare the Dough: In the bowl of a stand mixer, cream the butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy. Add the egg and molasses, mixing until fully combined.
- Incorporate Dry Ingredients: Add the flour, baking soda, salt, and ground ginger to the wet ingredients. Mix until a soft dough forms.
- Shape the Cookies: Scoop small portions of dough (about the size of a ping pong ball) and roll into balls. Coat each ball in granulated sugar.
- Bake: Place the dough balls onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them evenly. Bake for 9–11 minutes, or until the edges are just set. Remove from the oven and transfer the cookies to a cooling rack. They will flatten slightly as they cool.
- Make the Glaze: While the cookies cool, whisk together the melted butter, maple syrup, powdered sugar, milk, and a pinch of salt. The glaze should be thick but dippable; if needed, add a teaspoon of milk at a time to adjust the consistency.
- Decorate the Cookies: Once the cookies have cooled, dip one sidle into the maple glaze. Run the edge of the cookie along the bowl to remove any excess glaze. Place the cookies on wax paper and, if desired, top with sprinkles before the glaze sets.
Notes
- Glaze Dipping Tip: Dip one side of each cookie into the glaze and lightly scrape the excess against the bowl for a clean, polished look.
- Decorating Touch: Add festive sprinkles or crushed nuts immediately after glazing to ensure they stick before the glaze sets.
- Romans 10:9-10 If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
